What is Pin Oaks Care Ministry?
The Care Ministry is a team of members of the church who are trained people, not professionals, who will listen, care, encourage and provide emotional and spiritual support to people going through a crisis or difficult time. Providing that shoulder to lean on when experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, hospitalization, disability, divorce, job loss, or any of those things that some times weigh us down. Care Ministers are there for those times when we need that someone to lean on, that shoulder to cry on.
Care Ministers are like those in the song by Bill Withers “Lean on Me”. The verses of this song truly explain who the Care ministry team is and why they are needed as the song says…to help with those loads we can’t carry.
Ecclesiastes 4 speaks of oppression, toil and friendlessness of those who are dealing with trials by themselves. Then, in verse 12, it reminds us that there will be times when the burden of these things will weigh heavy on us. Though where one would struggle, two can defend themselves.
“…A cord of three strands is not quickly broken”. Ecclesiastes 4:12
This speaks on how our bond with God can become even stronger when we work together, with God at the center, to work through the difficult times in life.

What is Needed to Start this Care Ministry?
First and foremost, we need people who want to serve God by helping others get through difficult times in their lives, and to do that we need to get and provide training.
The first step was to register the church with a Care Ministry program. We ran a bake sales and held the Parents Night Out to help fund the registration. God was good and, through these efforts, the church has the funds to register.
The next step is to create funding to train at least 2 leaders for our Care Ministry. These leaders will need to go through the leadership training to be equipped to train the rest of the Care Ministry Team. To do this, we still need more funds.

Each of the prize packages listed below were donated by people and companies who want to help us raise training funds. This fundraiser will run until Sunday, November 5th, and our Sweepstakes drawings will happen at our Pin Oaks Family Dinner potluck. Each entry ticket can be purchased for a donation of $10.
